Privacy policy

Currency by SOBE is operated by SOBE OÜ (trading as Sobe Invest), registry code 16119708, Paldiski mnt 161-1, 13518 Tallinn, Estonia ("we"), which is the data controller. The app has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. This policy says what the app and our server handle, and what they never see.

What stays with you

Your lists, the amount, the theme, the language and your rate alerts are stored on your device. If iCloud is on, iOS also keeps them in your own iCloud storage so they return after a reinstall or appear on your other devices. We have no access to your iCloud.

What our server handles

Rates requests. The app and its widget ask our server (fx.sobeinvest.com, hosted in London, United Kingdom) for rates and chart data. As with any web request the server sees your IP address while answering. We keep no access log; the address is held in memory for about a minute to limit abuse and is never written to disk.
Rate alerts. So that an alert can reach you while the app is closed, the app sends the server: a random identifier of this installation (not tied to your name, Apple ID or device), the push token Apple issued for the app, and your alerts (the pair, the level, the notification text). When you delete your alerts, they are deleted from the server, and with the last one the identifier and the push token are deleted too. Installations not seen for 13 months are removed.
Pro. To unlock Pro data the app sends the server the purchase record signed by Apple. It holds the product, the dates and Apple's transaction identifiers; it has no name, no email and no payment details. The server checks Apple's signature, answers with a pass valid for a few days, and does not store the record.

Others involved

Apple processes purchases, delivers push notifications and provides iCloud, under its own privacy policy. We receive no payment details.
Market data providers (ExchangeRate-API, CoinGecko, MetalpriceAPI, OilPriceAPI and others) are queried by our server, not by your device: they learn nothing about you.
Fallback sources. If our server cannot be reached, the app asks the public services open.er-api.com and frankfurter.dev for rates directly; they then see your IP address, and nothing else.

We do not sell or share data with anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.

Your choices

Delete your alerts in the app to remove them, the installation identifier and the push token from our server. Deleting the app stops all requests. You may also write to us and we will remove what relates to your installation; under the GDPR and the UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct and erase your data and to complain to your data protection authority.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects nothing that identifies a person.

This website

fx.sobeinvest.com counts page views with GoatCounter, which runs on our own server. It sets no cookies and stores no IP addresses: we see only which pages are opened, from which site visitors came, the browser type, screen size and country. Nothing is shared with anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date.
